The bride requested a system for the Von Thun wedding that was casual but elegant, fun yet polished. Her fiancé is a farmer so she wanted to incorporate a more rustic aesthetic throughout the event. She also wanted to capture their laid back and fun personalities. Because this was a winter wedding, the colors couldn’t be too bright, nor could they be too Christmasy. However, I was able to strike the right balance by mixing various typographic styles and utilizing a more muted color scheme. The custom drawn plant illustrations and dynamic layout allows this collateral to truly stand out.
Another challenge that I faced was creating a visual system flexible over a wide range of collateral. Materials designed for the Von Thun Wedding included; save the dates, invitations, envelopes, RSVP cards, a monogram logo, rehearsal cards, event signage, name cards, table cards, and thank you cards. Although these materials were in a variety of dimensions and orientations, I was able to achieve a cohesiveness amongst them. With a consistent color scheme, type treatment, and illustration usage, this system both established and maintained the wedding identity.
This is one of the many wedding projects I’ve had the privilege to design. Feel free to check out other event branding projects.
