Designing the Perfect Workspace

With remote work and a hybrid work model at an all-time high, many people are rethinking their workspace. Without the traditional setup of a typical office, many people have struggled to maintain productivity and find inspiration. I have found that by surrounding myself with objects that bring me joy, I am much more likely to produce work that makes me proud.

Say Goodbye to Clutter

First and foremost, an organized workspace enhances productivity. This Ugmonk desk organizer is a godsend. I absolutely abhor messiness and clutter and this extends to my workspace. Gather allows me to arrange all of my essentials and customize their layout. The quality is phenomenal and having such a sophisticated element on my desk really puts me in the mindset to produce high-quality work.

365 Days of Letterpress

I have been ordering this letterpress calendar from Fabien Barral (aka Mr. Cup) since 2019. While it doesn’t so much serve a function in terms of date entry, it does brighten my day with monthly uplifting messages. Furthermore, I draw inspiration not only from the words, but also from the intricate designs from each month’s artist. I try to emulate the spirit of their designs in my own work. And because these cards shift monthly, my inspiration is consistently evolving.

Clicking the Day Away

As someone who is incredibly nerdy and selective when it comes to ampersands, I can say with full confidence that Ugmonk’s ampersand is my absolute favorite. Ugmonk is a brand that creates products by designers, for designers. So not only do I get to have my favorite ampersand in my workspace, but I can also have it on a product that I use daily.

Happy Little Trees

Bob Ross was the first artist to inspire me. While other kids were watching cartoons, I was watching Bob Ross on TV. His soothing voice, his painting technique, and his overall life outlook are my happy place. So having him as a daily fixture on my desk is vital. The fact that this mug reveals the painting below when hot liquid is in it makes it that much better. Other nature related elements on my desk include my faux succulent with the words “home is where your mom is” and my baby Groot. These both allow me to infuse a bit of my personality into my work day and are small things that I can glance at throughout the day to lift my spirits.
