Baby Bio was designed to be a modern-day digital baby book. It allows parents to record memories of their children as they grow and easily organize and share them with friends and family. The inspiration for this project came from observing parental activities on social media. Instead of sharing sporadic images with an entire social network, this app allows parents to organize all of their precious memories in a virtual timeline. They can date each memory and assign a hierarchy to each post to determine which memory was most impactful.
A user can view their content in a variety of ways. They can toggle between a timeline view, a calendar view, or a thumbnail view, depending on their preference. But most importantly, the app allows parents to choose who receives the information. This enables them to cultivate a more private social media experience for themselves as well as their children.
Because new parents have very little time, Baby Bio needed to be as user-friendly and hassle-free as possible. It strives to be engaging with its easy-to-use navigation, organized visual display, and soft rounded edges. The branding is light and playful but the interface itself is very sleek. The logo designed for this platform features a deconstruction of baby blocks which introduces both the color scheme and subject matter. It also plays around with the idea of building memories – brick by brick. Though the content features babies, the demographic for this app is young parents. Therefore, it was necessary to strike a delicate balance with the design.
