For the Brandhandler wedding, the bride gave me free rein to be creative and have fun. She wanted to infuse her Chicago summer wedding collateral with enthusiasm and personality. To achieve this personal touch, I hand lettered all of the text on the save the date, invitation, and Covid cards. The flowing script complements a casual serif with equally weighted strokes. Likewise, the illustrative floral and leaf elements speak the same visual language as the type upon which it surrounds.
Since wedding season would soon be upon us, I wanted this save the date to stand out from a sea of others. The dimensions are therefore distinct from a typical card. In this way, I hoped that the card would further emphasize this unique couple. Furthermore, I chose bright summery colors to indicate the sense of warmth and welcoming. The Brandhandler wedding was destined to be a jovial affair, and I wanted the materials to reflect that from the onset.
The invitation follows this same visual trend. I wanted this to be a flexible system that could accommodate nicknames or full names, sentences or phrases. The objective was for every piece to speak the same visual language despite the varying content lengths. And as with every wedding, the primary goal was to reflect the personality of the Brandhandler couple. The bride wanted something down-to-earth, festive, and most importantly, welcoming to her family and friends.
